Signing Ceremony Ensures Strengthened Relationship between Siksika Nation and Alberta Ahead of Establishing Indigenous Police Force

Siksika Nation and the Minister of Justice, Tyler Shandro, took steps to strengthen Alberta’s relationship with the Nation and officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony occurred in the Siksika Nation administrative building council chambers, with several members of the Chief and Council and from the Justice Minister’s office. On July 11, 2022, members of Chief and Council, both past and present, attended a signing ceremony at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino  The ceremony signified the relationship between the nation and the facility, and to announce that the Deerfoot Inn and Casino will be donating $10,000 to the nation’s post-secondary institution, Old Sun Community College and its students.
