COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOR SIKSIKA NATION FORMER PARISH HALL PROJECT
Initiative By Ohkinniinaa and Ninaaks
Proiect Summary
The Siksika Nation has launched the Memorial Park Buildings Program to address the evolving needs of the community and to accommodate the increased demand for various facilities due to population growth. The program, led by Siksika Nation Engineering Services, aims to enhance the Siksika Memorial Park in Cluny. The improvements will include upgrading the site’s external landscaping, enhancing the water supply and wastewater systems, constructing a new Memorial Building (formerly Parish Hall), renovating the Crowfoot school into a community center, establishing a new Police Headquarters, and more. Siksika Nation Engineering Services has hired Hatch Limited to provide consulting services for designing and constructing the Memorial Building, formerly the Parish Hall building.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
Siksika Nation believes that it is important to involve the community at every stage of the design process in order to capture the essence of the place, respect community members and their history, take into account local customs, and create designs that meet the needs of current and future generations.
To date, the project team presented two variations of an initial concept design of the building (pictured in this exhibit) to several community members through focus group sessions and at a Community Open House, held at Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Next, the project team will host a second important community meeting to present the project and seek feedback from community members on three options to assist with identifying a preferred concept design. Details are below:
TIME
- Thursday, November 14, 2:00 – 7:00 pm
- The same presentation will be held at two separate times: 2:00pm and 5:30pm.
LOCATION
- Boardroom at the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park
There will be refreshments and participation prizes!
