Info Session on Geographical survey of Indian Residential Schools (IRS) in Siksika

(September 15 – Siksika Nation) Siksika Nation Chief and Council organized an info session on the geographical survey of Indian Residential School (IRS) sites in Siksika on September 15th, 2021. Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the province, a virtual Info session was chosen as the safest way to provide an update to Siksika Nation members.

The info session began with an opening prayer, remarks from Chief Ouray Crowfoot, Councillor Kent Ayoungman and Siksika Nation Indian Residential School Services Coordinator Leanne Sleigh. A presentation from the University of Alberta was provided by Dr. Kisha Supernant, Director of the Institute of Prairie Technology that gave a thorough overview of the technical work involved. Information on how to access resources and supports was also provided by Siksika Health Services, Community Wellness and Mental Health. The info session wrapped up with a question/answer period.
