Chief and Council organize a community information session on the TOPGAS and OMAC Specific Claim

On November 1st, 2023 Siksika Nation Chief and Council organized a community information session at the Siksika Piikapsi Memorial Arbour to provide information on the TOPGAS and OMAC Specific Claim.  In a statement released by Chief and Council in October 2023, the claim relates to Canada’s collection of royalties for gas produced on Siksika’s Reserve. On April 19, 2021, Siksika Nation (“Siksika”) filed the TOPGAS and OMAC Specific Claim (the “Claim”). The Claim relates to Canada’s collection of royalties for gas produced on Siksika’s Reserve. The Claim alleges that Canada breached its fiduciary and statutory duties in collecting royalties for gas produced on the Reserve.
