Since time immemorial, the Lords of the Plains, the Siksika – Blackfoot, have lived in a territory that stretches from the North Saskatchewan River in present day Alberta and Saskatchewan to the Yellowstone River in the state of Montana, from the Continental Divide in the west to the Great Sand Hills in the province now known as Saskatchewan.

Ohkinniinaa ki Ninaaiks (Chief & Council)

Siksika Nation is led by one Chief and twelve Councillors, who are chosen by the voting members of the Nation every three years. Siksika Nation Ohkinniinaa ki Ninaaiksl work on behalf of the people and are accountable to the membership they serve. The Office of Siksika Nation Ohkinniinaa ki Ninaaiksl works closely with Nation departments and with municipal, provincial, federal, and international partners, as well as other organizations. The Office provides leadership and guidance to support the needs, hopes, and goals of the Siksika community, while staying committed to open, honest, and respectful communication between leadership and members.
