Notice of Fibre Optic Infrastructure Installation – Nation Infrastructure Upgrade

Oki,

The Housing Service Area is pleased to inform you about a new upgrade to the nation’s internet. Siksika is introducing fibre optic technology, which means faster and more efficient connections for everyone. This will help everyone connect to our community better and support their digital needs.

This letter is to inform all tenants that the Infrastructure & Internet Upgrade Project (IIUP) is entering the next phase with the installation of fibre optic infrastructure to residential housing units throughout Siksika Nation. This initiative is a Nation-approved investment in improving long-term connectivity, digital services, and access for our members.

As we are entering the phase, Siksika Housing Service Area would like to inform you that the IIUP Fibre Optic installation will be taking place at your unit. As the legal landlord, Siksika Housing has formally authorized this upgrade under provisions in the housing lease agreement, which allow the Nation to enter units for maintenance, repairs, and improvements related to infrastructure and essential services. This fibre optic installation qualifies as such.

Please be advised of the following:

  • Fibre optic installation will take place at your housing unit.
  • Project contractors and technicians will require access to the interior and/or exterior of your unit to complete the installation safely and effectively.
  • Installations will be conducted in a professional manner, with all reasonable steps taken to minimize disruption.
  • Refusal or non-response from tenants does not exempt the unit from participation in this project, nor does it override the Nation’s rights to carry out necessary upgrades.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to complete this important upgrade. This work is part of a time-sensitive, budgeted infrastructure rollout. Failure to complete connections during the current project window will result in significant delays and additional costs to the Nation if reconnection is delayed.

Project team members will be made available to answer any general questions about the installation process. Their role is to support a smooth transition and provide clarity around what tenants can expect during work at or near their housing unit.

We thank you for your continued cooperation as we complete this important Nation building initiative.
