AIR QUALITY ADVISORY – June 29, 2026

Oki Siksika,

Regional wildfire smoke is moving into our area. The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) for Siksika Nation is forecast to reach 5 (Moderate Risk) tomorrow.

While a rating of 5 is manageable for most people, wildfire smoke can be harmful even at moderate levels—especially for our elders, young children, pregnant individuals, and those with underlying health conditions.

If you have asthma, COPD, or other respiratory or heart conditions, please take these precautions:

  1. Stay Indoors: Keep windows and doors firmly closed to prevent smoke from entering your home.
  1. Keep Medications Close: Ensure your rescue inhalers, oxygen, or other routine medications are nearby and easily accessible.

If you or a loved one experiences severe shortness of breath, wheezing, or chest pain, do not wait—seek medical attention immediately.
