Siksika Nation has been in direct contact this afternoon with the Regional Director for Statistics Canada regarding recent concerns involving census collection activities in the community.
Statistics Canada has advised that they are looking into the matter and, out of an abundance of caution, will cease census collection activities in the community immediately while the matter is being reviewed. Community members are asked to remain vigilant.
If anyone approaches your home or identifies themselves as a census worker, please:
- Ask to see official identification.
- Do not provide personal or household information if you are uncertain about the individual’s identity.
- Do not allow anyone into your home if you are uncomfortable or have concerns.

Siksika Nation will continue to work directly with Statistics Canada and will provide further information to the community as it becomes available surrounding this matter.
