Happy Siksika Day!
Today is September 22, marking the day Treaty 7 was signed at Blackfoot Crossing 149 years ago. Leaders from the Siksika, Kainai, Pikuni, Tsuut’ina, and Stoney Nakoda Nations came together to sign a historic agreement with the Crown representatives.
In honouring Siksika Day and the treaty signing, we honour our ancestors and reflect on the importance of the treaty relationship that has endured for nearly 150 years.
