Alberta Traffic Fines Increasing

Please carefully read the following information from Public Safety regarding Alberta Traffic Fines increasing on March 13th.

SPEEDING FINES to be INCREASED on March 13th , 2026 in Alberta.

A driver going 10km per hour over the limit will pay $120 (up from $110), 20 km per hour over will increase to $190 (from $175). Speeding 40km per hour over will increase by 25% to $467 (from $373). Over 50km per hour up to $620 (from $495). Speeders going 51km per hour or more face a mandatory court appearance where fines will be determined by a judge.

CONSTRUCTION ZONES: Speeder in construction zones or near emergency vehicles. Driving over 30km per hour over the limit will face $540 (up from $499).

STUNTING: Increases from $473 to $710.

NO REGISTRATION OR LICENCE: No licence $351, no active registration $527.

DISTRACTED DRIVING: Will be $325 for viewing a phone, reading, writing, grooming.

These changes are being made with the aim to improve road safety and align the province’s fines with other provinces.
