Funeral and Burial Services
Funerals can be a confusing time for many on the Nation. Here is a step-by-step guide to help Siksika Nation members ensure their loved ones receive the most efficient care:
- Nation members contact Siksika Nation Membership to acquire financial assistance to pay for the funeral.
- Nation members will then contact a local funeral home i.e., Thoms Funeral Home, McInnis & Holloway etc. to arrange for funeral preparations.
- Nation Members will then contact Siksika Nation Public Works to fill out a funeral agreement form. This form will ensure crews have all the information needed to prep for the funeral date.
- Public Works requires that Nation members fill out and submit a funeral agreement form 48 hours in advance of funeral services. This will give crews adequate time to prepare for the funeral date.
- Please note that non-Nation members will need to submit a request to the Chief and Council for burial on the Nation.
Please call the office 48 hours in advance of funeral services so that crews have time to prepare.
