Public Notice: Grassfire Contained in Map 5 Area

Earlier today, a grassfire occurred in the Map 5 (Chicago) area. Emergency response teams, including Siksika Fire, RCMP, Peace Officers, and Security personnel, responded promptly to the scene. Door-to-door notifications and traffic control were conducted to ensure public safety. As a result, Highway 547 was temporarily closed.
The fire is now contained and under control. Siksika Fire crews will remain on site to monitor for any remaining hotspots.
We are pleased to inform residents that all evacuation orders have been lifted, and Highway 547 is now open to traffic. Residents are free to return to their homes.
We remind everyone to remain vigilant. If you see signs of smoke or fire, please report it immediately to the fire department at 403-734-3999 or the Public Safety 24 hour dispatch at 403-734-3815. Always follow the instructions of first responders.
Cooler weather is expected, however the risk of fire remains with dry and windy conditions — continued caution is advised.
