Hundreds of Election Workers Still Needed Across Cardston-Siksika

Oki Siksika,

Please read the following statement from Returning Officer, Jennifer Eliason:

With the October 19, 2026, referendum approaching, Elections Alberta is looking for hundreds of people to work at voting locations and help count ballots across Cardston-Siksika.

Workers are needed throughout the electoral division, including Hays, Enchant, Lomond, Turin, Iron Springs, Vauxhall, Leavitt, Mountain View, Hill Spring, Blood Tribe, and Siksika Nation.

“We have paid positions available throughout Cardston-Siksika, and we need a lot more people to join our team,” said Jennifer Eliason, Returning Officer for Cardston-Siksika. “There are opportunities in communities across the electoral division, and we’d really like to hear from people who are interested.”

One of the greatest needs is for people to help count ballots following the referendum. Elections Alberta is also recruiting for other roles, including Ballot Box Clerks and workers at voting locations.

“We especially need people who can help with the count,” said Eliason. “It’s an important part of the process, and it takes a large team of people working together to get the job done.”

The positions are paid, training is provided, and no previous election experience is required. Some Election Officer positions are available to people aged 16 and older.

Different roles and time commitments are available, and some workers may be able to take on more than one role or shift during the referendum.

“This is a chance to earn some extra money, meet people from your community, and be part of the team that makes voting possible,” said Eliason. “You don’t need previous election experience. We’ll give you the training you need.”

Positions are open until filled, and hiring is underway now. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply to Elections Alberta.
