Oki,
Siksika Peace Officers continue to keep our roadways safe. Last week we were able to capture 2 instances of vehicles going well over the speed limit through our communities.
On June 4, 2026, Peace officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 901 in Map 4 traveling west. They were caught at 135km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
On June 6, 2026, a vehicle was traveling North Bound on Highway 842 in Map 7. Peace officers caught him going 142 km/h. The vehicle was towed as the driver was intoxicated.
We want to remind visitors and nation members that speeding puts everyone on the road at serious risk. Higher speeds reduce reaction time and significantly increase the severity of collisions. Things become more serious when you add in intoxicated driving. A ticket, a fine, or a court summons are not the worst thing that can happen.
Practice safe driving when out on the roads. Ensure that you slow down and be aware of your surroundings so that everyone gets home safely. If you’re intoxicated ensure that you have a designated driver or a safe place to stay so that you’re not putting anyone at risk.
Arrive alive and drive with care.
Kiitakitamaatsin.
