Siksika Nation Fair 2021 POSTPONED

Siksika Nation Fair 2021 POSTPONED due to COVID-19

(September 7, 2021 – Siksika Nation) The Siksika Nation Fair 2021 committee has postponed all events until further notice with the exception of the golf tournament still scheduled for September 10th, 2021 at Speargrass Golf Course in Carseland, Alberta.

Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in Alberta, the committee postponed the following events:

  • FCA Rodeo: POSTPONED
  • Fastball Tournament: POSTPONED
  • Slo-Pitch Tournament: POSTPONED
  • Hand Game: POSTPONED
  • Pow Wow: POSTPONED

The Siksika Nation Fair 2021 committee originally staggered dates to address COVID-19 restrictions throughout the month of September but decided in the last few days to postpone most of the events.

“We did not want to put any strain on Siksika Health Services, the schools (students 12 and under are not vaccinated), and any other entities in Siksika. This decision was for the best interest of the people in Siksika and visitors. I felt that our leadership delegated us to plan the event and after careful consideration, we decided to postpone it. We carefully monitored all factors to help us reach this decision and keeping our visitors and community safe was at the forefront of our decision. We thank everyone for their support and will be announcing our rescheduled dates when it is safe to do so.” explained Pow Wow Chair Eddie Wolf Child.

The Siksika Nation Fair 2021 committee includes Chair and Siksika Nation Councillor Kent Ayoungman, Eddie Wolf Child, Mario Water Chief, Ida Duck Chief, Stephanie Weasel Child, Lydia McHugh, and Catlin Big Snake.
