Siksika Nation signs Memorandum of Understanding with Inn From the Cold

As a part of our ongoing effort to support Siksika Nation members, the Siksika Nation Support Services is pleased to announce a new initiative with Inn from the Cold, a not-for-profit agency in Calgary that provide programs on homelessness prevention and diversion, emergency family shelter, and supportive housing.

The partnership will commence with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing between representatives from Siksika Nation Tribal Administration and Inn from the Cold, as a means of creating a meaningful relationship to support & improving access to shelter and housing opportunities, finding affordable housing and providing urban cultural space for Siksika Nation’s members.

The MOU signing will take place on September 19, 2024, at 11:30 am at the Siksika Support Centre building with holy handgame to follow from 12:30pm to approximately 3:30pm.

Siksika Support Services is a new service under the Tribal Administration created to support the growing number of Nation members experiencing shortages in their daily lives surrounding food, shelter, and emergency needs. With access to culturally based Healing Plans for those individuals or families seeking enhanced support/services. Siksika Support Centre programs provide low barrier support consisting of the Emergency Supports program which also focuses on donation requests for sports and culture, the Food Centre, the Healing Plan program and the Natoyiikimaan Men’s Lodge.

Inn From the Cold is a not-for-profit agency in Calgary that supports families in finding stability during times of crisis. They empower independence and foster resilience, guided by the belief that every child and family should have a safe and stable place to call home. The offer three main programs: homelessness prevention and diversion, emergency family shelter, and supportive housing.
