Spring is Here!

Oki Siksika,

Happy spring!

While we may still see some snow, we welcome the longer days and the warmer weather ahead. Spring is also a time when many of us look forward to getting back outside—whether that’s daily outdoor activities, spring
campfires, or backyard fires with family and friends.

A reminder that the warmer season means we need to be on alert for hazards. On the reserve, grassfires are a
major concern. Please review the tips on the poster, courtesy of Emergency Management.

You can take steps to protect your home and community. Grassfires are the greatest wildfire risk to the Siksika
Nation. Protect your home and community by monitoring grass for colour, height, and dryness. Avoid burning
debris around tall grass or in strong winds. Keep the grass around tall buildings cut short.

As a reminder, the Siksika Artsdance takes place on April 8-9. If you are an eligible youth, please consider
registering for the event.

Kitakitamaatsin!
