PUBLIC NOTICE – UPDATE

The Townsite Lagoon Short Term Improvement project has now been in progress for 9 weeks. The Construction Contractor is continuing progression towards completion of the project.

The Project time schedule illustrating major milestones:

Some milestones that have been completed include the dewatering and desludging of Cell A1. This has allowed the team to repair the holes in the liner.

Another milestone that has been completed is the excavation of the interconnection pipe and valve between cells A1 and A2. In the upcoming weeks the team will focus on installing the new interconnection pipe and valve as well as backfilling the berm between the two cells. This will be a major task in this year’s project and we are aiming to have the excavation completed before the end of the year.

Dewatering and desludging of A2 is still in progress, the project team is focused on completing this task in the upcoming weeks.

The most notable challenge the team has been facing is the ground water on site, extra effort is being made to dewater the site and maintain a dry working environment.

Anticipated regular work hours will be 8:00 am – 4:30 pm on those days. No service interruptions are anticipated as part of this project although, in case of severe weather, the project may be prolonged.
