WEATHER EVENT UPDATE – Public Works

Following today’s severe windstorm, which produced wind gusts of approximately 140 km/h, Siksika Nation Public Works has responded to multiple instances of property damage across our facilities. We are grateful to report that no injuries occurred, and all staff and community members are accounted for.  

The storm caused significant damage, including: 

  1. The Transfer Station building being completely blown down  
  1. The cell phone tower at the Public Works main office being blown down  
  1. The security shack at the Arbor being destroyed  

Transfer Station Update:  

Access to the roll off hill at the Transfer Station will be temporarily closed tomorrow morning while crews’ clear debris and make the area safe. Our goal is to have the roll-off hill operational again after a few hours of cleanup work.  

Community Clean-Up Initiative Update:  

Due to the storm response and recovery efforts now underway, the Community Clean-Up Initiative has been suspended until further notice.  

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as crews work to restore operations and clean up affected areas.
