Winter Weather Advisory – 17 FEB. 2026

Oki, SIksika.   It appears that winter is preparing to remind us to be humble when it comes to our milder times.  The latest from Environment Canada regarding the brief return of winter to the region.

This storm is directly impacting the nation with blowing snow and very low visibility, with total snowfall accumulations between 15 and 25 cm. Strong North winds gusting up to 70 km/h will also accompany the heavy snow and cause very poor visibility in blowing snow.

Conditions will improve tonight.

Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel and outdoor activities until conditions improve. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

Please prepare to remain indoors for the next 72 hours, and refrain from traveling on area highways, especially HWY 1.  If you must travel, ensure you have a reliable vehicle and that you have spare warm clothing, food and water available in your vehicle.

Be safe, Siksika.
