Public Notice: Water Service Interruption – Resolved (April 16, 2026)

Siksika Nation Public Works would like to inform residents that a brief water service interruption occurred this evening affecting the following areas: Muskrat, Stobart, Northcamp, West Siksika, Townsite, Suzy Slough, Deerfoot NTN’s, and East Siksika.

The interruption began at approximately 7:10 PM and was fully restored to all areas by 8:45 PM.

The cause of the interruption was related to a weather event that created brief power fluctuations. These fluctuations resulted in distribution pumps at three facilities (Westend Pumphouse, Arthur Ayoungman Water Treatment Plant, and Siksika Pumphouse) going into a protective fault mode. Our operators responded promptly and attended each site to safely reset the systems and restore service.

Water service has now been fully restored, and the system has been re-pressurized.

This type of interruption is related to power fluctuations rather than a failure of the water system itself. All facilities are equipped with backup generators and surge protection systems, which are functioning as designed. Further investigation will be conducted to better understand the root cause of the power-related issue.

Our team will continue to monitor the system throughout the night to ensure stable operations.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. If you continue to experience any water service issues, please contact Public Safety Emergency oncall number at 403-734-3815

Thank you,

Siksika Nation Public Works
