Public Works Update: East Water Treatment Plant & Production Wells

Wednesday • 7 May 2025 – 22:30hrs

This afternoon’s wildfire in the Map8 area knocked out power to the East Water Treatment Plant and its production wells. Public Works staff immediately contacted FortisAlberta, and together we were able to reinstate grid power to the entire water-plant area within a few hours.

Current status

Water production is back on normal power and the plant is fully operational.

Because of the brief outage you may notice fluctuations in pressure while the system equalises. However, strictly precautionary, Public Works Operators are conducting water samples to ensure water remains safe.

Next steps

Public Works Operators will continue to monitor water quality and pressure.

System flushing if any low-pressure pockets are detected.
