The fire in Map 8 area in Siksika has been contained and confined to the bush areas. Fortunately, no homes were lost or injuries reported. Emergency responders and service areas continue to monitor the situation and check for flare ups. The wind conditions are a challenge faced by the firefighting crews who remain on scene.
As a safety precaution, Siksika Public Safety is asking all displaced residents to remain in their accommodations for at least one more day as there still is the potential for flare ups. If you have been displaced by the fire, please call Siksika Emergency Public Safety line at 403-734-3815.
Siksika Peace Officers and Siksika Security will be in area to control traffic and limit access as Fire crews are in the area. Please note: We are restricting access to the area to only emergency responders and department crews until the situation is deemed safe.
