Climate Change Impacts on Potable Water

Siksika Nation has completed a study to better understand the impacts of climate change on the quantity and quality of potable water from groundwater wells within the Nation. The report “Climate Change Impacts on Potable Water” by Kerr Wood Leidal (KWL) analyzes the predicted climate change impacts to the existing groundwater aquifers, assesses groundwater quality challenges, and identifies recommendations and next steps for ensuring a resilient groundwater supply within Siksika Nation.

The project was funded by the Government of Alberta, through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre’s Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program. The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre is a partnership of Alberta Municipalities, Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta.  For questions, contact: Leo at or Dirk at
